Keith Baggus opened the meeting @
1:15 in Carnegie.
A sympathy card was signed by all that were present for the
family of Bill Baldwin, a deceased past member of the club.
Snacks were ample to meet anyone’s hunger...thanks members for
all the goodies and to Keith for preparing the kitchen.
Dave Bodnar gave a interesting show and tell presentation on
something he will be demonstrating at the March East Coast Train
Show in York, Pa.
A joy stick controller: built into a case with 3 LED (3
channels) and 3 receivers ( 1 for a train speed, 2 for a modem
and 3 was a blinking sign) Cost= about $100 and was 9 amps. You
will be able to find it on our web page and also on You-tube. He
also showed an automatic screwdriver with 2 bits that could
sense the direction you turned your hand ( thus turning forward
or reverse the screwdriver). It was rechargeable and cost about
$76. He showed a second screwdriver with 18 bits, powered by 2
AAA batteries with a light for $16.99. Dave showed a list of
thing he acquired from ( Banggood.com
) one was a programmable LED sign for $9.99, another was rare
earth magnets $3.59, and another was a great wire stripper from
Amazon for $15.00, and a coax plug adaptor from also Amazon for
$6.00 for 5 pair; the same thing on EBay = 8 pair for $12.99.
Dave asked if anyone had taken time to click on the “Search Box”
on the opening page of the Newsletter. It can get you to all the
past News Letters. P.S. The wire stripper on Amazon for $14.99
is Blusmart AWG24 -10 (0.2-6.0 mm.)
Tina Weimer, our treasurer, told us of two new members, Ken and
Janice Janowitz from Gibsonia. Please welcome them to our club.
She mentioned that Rick Tyke had things for sale in our
Newsletter so check them out. A Christmas Card was received from
long time members Sandra and John Wigggin. John is still in a
nursing home but doing well.
Keith reminded everyone that there would be no meeting in
February. Keith will be in Florida and Tina in Georgia. Keith is
having 2 train trips this year, see “Trips” in Newsletter for
details.
Don Goodwin’s youngest son, died unexpectedly leaving two very
young sons. A motion was made by Alycefaye Stewart and seconded
by Lois Bodnar to donate $100 from the Club to the boy’s trust
fund for their education in lieu of flowers. Motion carried. A
hat was also passed around the members for donations. The winner
of the 50/50 also donated their winnings.
