PGRS March Meeting Minutes

The March meeting was held on the 16th at St. Alphonsus Church Hall in McDonald, Pa. Gene and Caryl Linck were the hosts. Deb Goodwin and Al Hartman sold raffle tickets to the chatty crowd before Keith started the meeting close to 2:00pm. In Ann Celento’s treasurer’s report she said “We have money.” We also have two new members. Then went on with talking about the Club buying new shirts of some style and said she would check on the current prices. In my Secretary’s report, I had no new news. We talked about having another Railroad Recipe Dinner. Ann said there are two Railroad Cookbooks and that “Dining by Rails” might be online. How Claudette Malik was feeling was asked. The answer per her on Face book was, much better. The possibility of us doing a small layout, at the October 26th Train Show at the Castle Shannon VFD Hall was discussed at the meeting. There will be no money but exposure would be good and we could get new members. Don might not have to bring in the trailer.

Dave Bodnar said more animation in the layout would be a good idea. It would add action to the layout. A tree was suggested. Hello Henny! Ed banks suggested a slot car to go along side of the train. I said I have a G-Scale Carrera track that might fit in better. Only club members could operate it. Talk then went on to the Pike fest in May, featuring Thomas the Tank engine. Suggestions for the Pike fest are welcome. I offered a mechanical arm to be put into an animated something!

Dave Bodnar then had a demonstration on the multi-tester that we received at the banquet as a gift. It is from Harbor Freight and has many uses. It can test trains, batteries and track. Dave showed us how to use it. Go to www.DaveBodnar.com  to see a video of the demonstration. We talked more about animation and voted to add sounds and motion to our layout in maybe cows, dogs or horses. You can do it Dave! He said, with help!

Then the 50/50 drawing was held, I won on ticket number #833 $33.00! In attendance for today are, Gene & Caryl Linck, Deb & Don Goodwin, Ann & Ed Celento, Keith Baggus, Rich and Ruth Trudel, Ed Banks, Bill & Jean Baldwin, Al & Shirley Hartman, Clark & Alice Kemmerer, Barrie Barker, Dave Bodnar, Bert Mangold and myself, Jan Vogt.

The next meeting will be at the Kemmerer’s on Sunday April 27, 2014 from 2:00 – 4:00. To see their new old house after a car went through the front window! They live at –  28 North Joslyn Drive Pittsburgh, PA 15235. Phone # 412-795-0524.

We then ate a wonderful Pot luck covered dish dinner. Most members started leaving around 4:00 right on schedule! Thank you Gene & Caryl Linck for being great hosts!
