The photos below were taken at the RhB (Rhaetian Bahn) maintenance
facility in Landquart. The restoration on #11 "Heidi" was
completed by a collaboration of the Swiss Society of
Volunteers (know as Club 1889) and DLM which created a new
boiler.
You may recognize this locomotive as LGB 20271. Club 1889
has restored quite a number of traditional coaches which
were also modeled by LGB.
Rhb Landquart also has the Engiadina No. 108. Whereas Heidi
was converted to burning Oil, Engiadina still burns coal.
Note the clever way to determine the water level in the
tender. There are a series of valves that can be opened. If
you get water at a particular level, then there is at least
that much water.

At Landquart RhB still has a
roundhouse. If fact this is protected as a National
Landmark, so they have to keep it and maintain it. I never
thought about how they would do the cantenary system at a
turntable. It makes quite a mass of overhead wires. Most of
the current locomotives are too long for the roundhouse but
Inside there are a few classics, like this "Crockodile". It
runs but upon inspection it was found to have some cracks in
one of the axles. Actually there is another one as well with
the same problem.
