and itís time for the kids to head back to school. Where
did our summer go? It was just the start of June the other day
and the kids were getting out of school, now weíre making plans
for fall. Time go by so fast when you have fun. I really enjoy
my time with Robbie and Ryle this summer, I guess Iím just a big
kid at heart, itís so much fun seeing the world though their
eyes. On Friday each week we did what
I called Field Trip
Friday and we did day trips all
around western Pennsylvania. But now itís time for poor Indian
princes run Amok (Rylie) to go back on the reservation, school
started August 22. School starts early and early each year, I
fell badly for all our kids, I long for the days when school
started the day after Labor Day, you know the good old days.
I would like
to thank Al and Shirley Hartman for hosting the August meeting
and the P.G.R.S. Family Picnic. Iím sorry that I didnít make it
to the picnic, but I hear that a good time was had by all, and
like always there was a lot of good food to eat.
I would also
like to thank Donald Goodwin for taking over and running the
meeting for me. Don tells me that he reviewed the calendar for
the balance of the year, and reviewed the situation that came up
at the July Greenberg show. Iím sad to report that the club
application has been turned down for the November train show.
Iím hoping that the situation Donald discussed at the meeting
didnít have any bearing on our application, and the Greenberg
train show has just turned us down because they didnít have room
for us. I had hoped my letter of apology to Frank Hicks, and
regrets for this situation and what had happened, and that the
club would address this at our next meeting would help smooth
thing out with the Greenberg people. Thanks to Ann Celento for
giving us a Financials report on the club, you can see it under
Financial Report (password required). David Bodnar asked for
help with our monthly newsletter, we need more people to write
article, and collect information for it.

checking. Has anyone made it out to Gettysburg this summer for
the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg,
and if you did, did you take a ride on the newly-built replica
of Northern Central railroad 4-4-0 No. 17 the York? If you made
the trip to Gettysburg, and took a ride on the train I would
like to hear from you, and get any information you have on the
train, and the ride.
